Urban Design Principles + Models

A great frustration for us over the years has been the tendency of architects to design Big Architecture masterplans and of specialist urban designers to fail in their embrace of architecture. It seemed to us there was (and perhaps still is?) a yawning gap to be filled in regard to designs to ensure the ‘life between buildings’ really happens and in environmentally and socially sustainable ways. Accordingly, having worked with Jan Gehl’s studio in Copenhagen we later formed a collaboration with Oliver and Louise at Schulze Grassov (Gehl alumni) and developed a series of concepts and drawings to illustrate a new approach.
