Human Nature is planning a new sustainable neighbourhood on the former Phoenix Industrial Estate in Lewes, East Sussex. We are intending to submit a planning application in spring 2022, with work due to begin on the site in 2023, if successful. You can read more about our plans for the Phoenix Project here.
We hope to host events and activities on site from 2022 onwards and intend to bring forward many of the services we envisage for the future site, long before we start building. A zero waste facility – food to compost and back to food – is already in motion, as is a temporary skatepark. We are looking to fast track an EV freight and cargo bike service, cultural events, family exercise and fun in the Soap Factory, possibly a pop-up local food and drink venue and other ideas. You can see details of upcoming events below.

Human Nature invites you to a public exhibition of its proposals for the Phoenix neighbourhood, formerly the North Street Quarter. Please join us to see the plans and designs for the regeneration of this neglected site, creating a beautiful new place to live, work and play.
See the work by the Human Nature team and its team of architects, engineers and landscape designers to create a viable and sustainable scheme following numerous community consultation meetings, including the Design Festival in September 2021. It’s almost ready to go to planning: come explore the ideas behind the designs, debate these with the team, join site tours and let us know what we can do to improve the plan.
