Phoenix Project Design Festival

Over the past year we’ve been working on plans for a new walkable, renewably-powered, super-green neighbourhood on the former Phoenix industrial site in Lewes, East Sussex. These ideas were presented in an exhibition in the Foundry Gallery at the Phoenix Project Design Festival in early September.

To everyone who came to the festival, we’d like to say: thank you for your time, interest, engagement, energy and enthusiasm.

We had more than 3,000 visits. It was fantastic to meet so many of you and have the chance to show you our plans and work in progress, discuss ideas, suggestions and concerns. And to enjoy music, dancing, food and drink together in Hammonds Yard.

Our team is busy working through mountains of feedback – questionnaires, mind-maps, feedback forms and post-it notes. Please bear with us while we process all your input – your thoughts, knowledge, ideas and challenges are invaluable to us as we shape our plans for a truly remarkable place for Lewes.

If you couldn’t join us (or would like to revisit parts you missed): we’ll be uploading the exhibition content and talks on our website soon. We also plan to re-open the Foundry Gallery for a few days in the autumn. Look out for details in future newsletters.

In the meantime, here are some of our favourite snaps from the event (thanks to Philip Volkers and the Human Nature team). If you’d like to contribute to the conversation, we’d love your feedback here.
